Project Description

 

With the start of the construction project of concentrator expansion (phase 2) of the Sarcheshmeh Copper Plant, the issue of supplying water required for this phase from the factory was also examined and of course the most important way to supply water was to extract the water from the production waste from the factory. For this purpose, the construction of the fifth tailing thickener was carried out under the supervision and consultation of ANIN Co. and was put into operation.

At the same time, the issue of pumping the water extracted to the concentration plant was discussed in ANIN Co., and after conducting many studies and examining all the options, two actions were selected as the final solution. The first option was to use the existing infrastructure in the plant and increase the capacity of the existing reclaim water pump station by 43%, and the other option was to build a temporary reclaim water pump near the existing pump station.

In order to supply the water required by the factory in the second and third phases of concentrator expansion, the water pumping capacity was supposed to reach at least 12,000 square meters. For this purpose, it was decided to install three pumps similar to the pumps in the old pump station and three pumps in another station that was built for this purpose. With the addition of these six pumps, it would be possible to transfer water from the reclaim water pool to the plant and supply the water required for the expansion phases in full.

The studies, basic design and details of the entire set of pumps and new pump station were fully entrusted to ANIN Co. as the project consultant. Also, preparing a description of the services of the executive contractor and meter and estimating the activities were also considered as part of the duties of this company.

In less than two months and after consulting with the client and the operator, considering their requirements and demands and taking into account the national as well as international standards, all the technical and financial documents were prepared and approved.

After holding the tender and selecting the contractor, the executive operations started on the site and ANIN Co. carefully monitored the good execution of the project with a constant care.

It is worth noting that the client’s main option was to purchase new pumps from foreign manufacturers, which would have cost NICICO a lot due to international sanctions. However, with the studies conducted in this company, selecting qualified domestic manufacturers and holding several meetings with the client, operator and builders, finally accepting all the technical and financial responsibilities, paved the way for the construction of pumps to be done domestically in the country.

Fortunately, with the constant presence of the contractor and the client and the use of new management methods, and only less than three months after the start of the project, the capacity of the existing pump station was increased and the construction and commissioning of the new station was completed.

After launching the project, it was found that the performance of the new complex is in every way better than the previous equipment. Higher efficiency and lower power consumption have always led to the use of new equipment by the operator, and previous devices are usually stand by in the plant.
