Ali Mokhtari, the project manager:

Water obtained from production in concentration plants must be returned to the production cycle and this is possible by using pumps that create high flow.

Nailing & Shotcrete in Sarcheshmeh Copper Plant

Client: National Iranian Copper Industries Co

Implementation Duration: 12 months (2013)

Project Description

In Sarcheshmeh Copper Plant, in addition to increasing the capacity of tailing thickeners more than twice, the issue of transferring the extracted water to a concentration plant was considered and it was decided to build a new pumping station next to the tailing thickeners.

Due to the existing spacial constraints, different options for the location of the pump station were proposed. Also by holding numerous meetings and conducting numerous technical and financial studies, all options were carefully considered as a result of which the best option was to excavate the trench over the thickeners and build a pump station at this location.

The next point was how to stabilize the trench obtained from the excavation. In this stage, all the proposals were considered. Because the trench of pipelines and burial cables were implemented in site, the possibility of fulfilling each of the proposals was considered and exchanged separately from the technical and economic aspects. Finally, nailing and shotcrete operations on the trench were considered as the best and most feasible option.

At this stage, by conducting basic and geotechnical studies on site, preparing maps and technical documents, defining the services of the executive contractor, meters and estimating the activities the tender for selecting the contractor was held.

In order to ensure the performance of the contractor, the tasks of correcting the documents prepared by ANIN Co. and preparing the necessary documents and workshop details were assigned to the contractor, but all documents were re-examined and approved by ANIN Co..

Executive operations also started on the site based on instructions and plans and under the direct and continuous supervision of this company. After more than 160,000 cubic meters of excavation, more than 5000 square meters of nailing and shotcrete to a height of 20 meters, construction of 4 wells each with a diameter of one meter and a length of more than 30 meters in less than three months of excavation project of construction site of new pump station in Sarcheshmeh Copper Plant and trench stabilization overlooking it were successfully completed and handed over to the client.
